So Long Portland....(and Freshman Year)

As of a couple weeks ago the semester was over. Everyone packed their bags and went their separate ways. Some went home for the summer and some stayed to take summer school. Some moved in with friends and some stayed in Portland. If you are like my friend Jacki, two weeks ago marked an end to a journey she began 4 years ago and the beginning of something new.

I truly believe that God brings us to the places we need to go and at the very time we need them most. This was the case for me. At the beginning of the semester I had no idea what to expect. The only thing I was sure of was that my brother would be there and I was going to have a cool roommate. However, as time went by I realized there was much more. Cascade was the very thing I needed this year. Thanks to this year I have some of the most amazing friends and some wonderful memories.

I encourage you guys as y’all (Sorry I’m back in Texas and I can say that now!) look for the school that’s right for you to be open minded. Dream big and follow that. If you want to go to school somewhere that’s 20 miles away or 2000 miles away, don’t let anything get in your way.

College is a wonderful experience, full of many twists, turns, and multiple surprises. It’s the time of your life, so embrace the now and be excited for what’s to come.

Good luck in your future and if you do decide to come to Cascade next year, see ya then!

April Scoot! I just love you. I enjoyed talking to you this summer. I was looking at Cascade's website and there you were. Did you get our super cool coffee cups from the pottery place. Have a good rest of the summer.
