It's Art.

I was at my brother Wes’ house watching a movie when I noticed a new lamp that had mysteriously appeared the day before. There’s nothing wrong with getting a new lamp, however, this one was very different from your ordinary lamp. This base of the lamp was bulky and consisted of puke colors. I guess the base would have been okay, but the base with the lampshade is what made it so ridiculous. The lampshade was about double the height of the base and double the width. I though it looked like a freakishly oversized lawn gnome. Anyways, Wes said that one of his friends had given it to them before he left because he didn’t want to throw it away…unfortunately. Apparently one of his roommates, Sung Kyu, really liked the lamp. Well maybe not liked it, however it was a gift from his friend and he didn’t want to get rid of it. Wes and his other roommate disagreed. This is where my friend Amelia and I come into the story.

We asked Wes if we could take the lamp and attempt to paint it so that it would be somewhat attractive. He said that would be fine but we had to make it super tacky and bring the lamp back before Sung Kyu woke up. That night Amelia and I did paint the lamp and added a few extra things to spice it up. The end result was actually so tacky that it was way cool, or at least we thought so. Sometimes the tackier something is the more I like it. This lamp truly holds true to “All things tacky.” We both really like the lamp now. I actually hope I can inherit it; I would put it in my house any day.

We took it back to their house the next day, and Sung Kyu actually liked it! I guess Amelia and I have a new lamp decorating business. Maybe we could have our own show on TLC?

You can’t tell me this isn't amazing. It reminds me of Aladdin.
